AQUAPHOR A5 Water Filter & Cartridge Replacements
The Aquaphor A5 filter offers longer lasting protection from contaminants in tap water that is heavily polluted with rust, sand and silt. It contains more sorbent for an extend- ed filter life of 350 litres. Enriches the water with Magne- sium up to 30% of your recommended daily value. Used with Aquaphor filter jugs with B5 cartridge fit.
AQUAPHOR A5
Extended filter life in turbid water
The AQUAPHOR A5 filter reduces the annoying taste and odour of chlorine, filters out sediment for clearer, brighter water and actively prevents scale.
A5 efficiently filters out colloidal iron, heavy metals (lead, copper, etc.), organic compounds, trace pharmaceuticals, pesticides and other dangerous matter that may appear in tap water.
AQUAPHOR A5 contains more filtration media. Combined with a micropore cap on top, the filter demonstrates extended filter life of 350 litres. A5 works effectively against dissolved contaminants even in water with visible signs of rust, sand or silt.
A5 type fits all AQUAPHOR filter jugs with B5 cartridge type.
Without a timely replacement of the cartridge, the filter gets useless. After all, the cartridge is the main part of the filter, performing all the water treatment process.
How to choose a replacement cartridge?
Cartridges for different types of filters are very different, both in appearance and filling. It is more convenient to buy them in sets since the necessary stock will always be at hand. Moreover, the price for each cartridge in a set would be lower.
Replacement cartridges for AQUAPHOR filter jugs differ in shapes and sizes. Branded cartridges with the round base (for example, A5 and B15) are selected according to the diameter of hole in the funnel. Standard oval cartridges Maxfor and B25 fit the filters offered by many European manufacturers.
Cartridges for these filters can contain a membrane, carbon block, or ion-exchange resin. Depending on the purpose of the filter, there can be different quantity and combinations of cartridges.
The frequency of their replacement may also be different; the approximate numbers are listed below. The ready-made cartridge sets save you the need to go into tags and names — it’s a lot easier this way.
This category includes cartridges for Modern (B200) and Topaz filters. In Modern, both upper and lower cartridges are replaced at the same time, so they are also sold together in a set.
Replacement cartridges come in three standards: 10"/20" BB, 10 "SL and Viking. Also, it should be noted that certain cartridges filter only cold water. Cartridges for hot water are designed for both hot and cold temperatures.
How often should replacement cartridges be changed?
- Check the user manual for your filter model to learn more about the specific cartridges’ life.
- Both in filter jugs, cartridges last for approximately two months.
- Cartridges filled with activated carbon in faucet filters serve from six months to a year.
- Carbon blocks and cartridges with membranes in under-counter filters are replaced at least once every 1-1.5 years. Polypropylene pre-filtration cartridges are replaced approximately once every six months.
- In a pre-filter, the cartridge should be changed when the water pressure drops — this is a sure sign replacement is needed. Polypropylene ones are renewed approximately every 6 months, and carbon ones — every year.
What determines the frequency of cartridge replacement?
How long the cartridge will last is influenced by a number of factors:
- the quality of incoming water,
- the type of a filter,
- and the frequency of its use.
- How to install a replacement cartridge in a filter?
Replacing the cartridge in AQUAPHOR filters is quite easy:
In the jugs, the main thing is to install the cartridge at a right angle. It should fit the funnel tightly.
In the under-counter filters (AQUAPHOR Crystal and RO series), the design of replacement cartridges is “click and turn”, allowing for the quick and simple replacement without any tools.
How to regenerate a cartridge?
It is impossible to regenerate a cartridge with carbon or a membrane — those can only be replaced with new ones. Only softening cartridges with ion-exchange resin can be “refreshed” with the regular table salt. The frequency of regeneration and replacement of such cartridges depends on the value of your water hardness.
Can replacement cartridges be flushed?
Cartridges should be washed after purchase. This is done to remove coal dust: in itself, it does not cause harm, but it stains the water, contaminates valves and membranes. Step-by-step instructions for washing the module are attached to each AQUAPHOR water filter.
Do not forget to change the modules on time: this is necessary so that the filter does not lose its effectiveness, and there is always clean water in the house.
